The ELITATM laser creates the lenticule by making minute perforations which are very close to each other (contiguous cut).2 This ensures a silky smooth cut, which is a major technological advancement.
Older technologies employ lasers which cut through the cornea making perforations which are separated, leaving behind a rough edge, known as tissue bridges.2 SILK™ technology eliminates these tissue bridges2, making lenticule extraction significantly easier for surgeons.
