Johnson & Johnson Vision introduces the CATALYS® System Mobile Patient Bed developed to help optimize patient workflow throughout the full cataract procedure

SANTA ANA, Calif. (October 7, 2017) – Johnson & Johnson Vision today announced that the CATALYS® System Mobile Patient Bed* has received FDA clearance for sale in the United States and will be available for sale in November.

The Mobile Patient Bed is the latest addition for the CATALYS® Precision Laser System. Designed to optimize workflow from cataract patient preparation through postoperative recovery, the bed integrates seamlessly with the CATALYS® System through Bluetooth connectivity. The Mobile Patient Bed brings a new level of simplicity to laser cataract surgery and phacoemulsification workflow through an ergonomically designed headrest to optimize patient head positioning and an intuitive remote control pendant. Additionally, the ability to adapt the bed to multiple positions and back conditions helps to conform to patients’ individual physical needs and conditions.

“Our goal with this innovation is to enhance patients’ overall surgical experience, so we worked to provide an easy transition as they move from one part of their cataract procedure to the next and premium comfort while they are in the operating room”, said Tom Frinzi, Worldwide President, Surgical Vision, at Johnson & Johnson Vision. “We also designed the mobility and adaptability features of this bed to help simplify the workflow for surgeons between the laser cataract suite and phacoemulsification.”
