How Johnson & Johnson is helping more people see the world clearly and live fully

This World Sight Day, Johnson & Johnson is highlighting the power of collaboration and advocacy to advance eye health and help expand access to eye health services for those who need it.

Bringing together advocacy, innovation, education and partnership to help advance the future of eye health.

Around the world, vision matters to how people learn, work and connect.

At Johnson & Johnson, we are committed to creating a world where everyone has the opportunity to see clearly and live fully. That means combining our deep understanding of how the eye works with innovation and personalized, quality care, and embracing our responsibility to help address the broader challenges facing eye health.

Those challenges are significant. According to the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB), nearly everyone will experience an eye-health issue in their lifetime, yet more than a billion people still lack access to the services and treatments they need.

This World Sight Day, we’re highlighting the importance of making eye health a global priority and the power of partnership to help make that possible.

A shared commitment

Through our partnership with IAPB, Johnson & Johnson is part of a global coalition working to elevate eye health and preventable blindness on national and global agendas. We are honored to bring our knowledge and expertise to this effort and to support advocacy aimed at accelerating progress toward ending avoidable sight loss by 2030.

Our engagement with IAPB also connects advocacy with evidence and action. Johnson & Johnson worked with IAPB to expand the IAPB Vision Atlas to include data on cataract surgery training and patient impact, helping strengthen our understanding of needs and opportunities in eye health.

Through engagement with the upcoming Global Summit for Eye Health, we are contributing to a broader conversation about the challenges and opportunities ahead. Better eye health can help improve educational outcomes, workforce participation and overall well-being. Because lasting progress requires collaboration, evidence and action.

 Putting our commitment into action

Our work with IAPB is one part of Johnson & Johnson’s broader commitment to supporting healthy vision. Together with the Johnson & Johnson Foundation, we support collaborations and programs that help expand access to eye care, strengthen the eye-health workforce and build long-term capacity in communities around the world.

Through Sight For Kids, our long-standing partnership with Lions Clubs International Foundation, more than 55 million students have been reached with eye-health screenings, education and care. In 2025 alone, the program screened 2.5 million children, distributed more than 40,000 pairs of eyeglasses and engaged more than 18,000 community health workers.1

For a child who cannot see the classroom board, the impact can go far beyond clearer vision. It can help unlock greater opportunity to learn, play and thrive.

For adults living with treatable blindness, our collaborations with SEE International and Cure Blindness Project are helping expand access to sight-restoring cataract care while strengthening the eye health workforce. Through support for surgical teams, training and local capacity, these partnerships are helping communities build the tools, technology and expertise needed to prevent and treat vision loss for years to come.

A vision for what’s possible

No single organization can address the global challenge of preventable and treatable vision loss alone. It takes governments, healthcare professionals, nonprofits, advocates, businesses and communities working together to keep eye health a priority and bridge the gaps between communities and the care they need and deserve.

That is why World Sight Day matters.

It is a moment to recognize the progress being made, raise awareness of the work still ahead and reaffirm our collective commitment to making vision possible for more people around the world.

For Johnson & Johnson, our partnership with IAPB is an important part of that commitment, bringing together advocacy, innovation, education and partnership to help advance the future of eye health. This World Sight Day, let’s keep working together to make that vision possible.
